• Volunteer Awards

Volunteers play a critical role in helping shape Australia and building stronger and more resilient communities and supporting individual participation in community life.

Volunteering touches all aspects of Australian society, whether it be helping out with local sporting teams and land care groups, responding to natural disasters and emergencies, or helping local charities support some of our most disadvantaged people.’ (taken from Dr Michael Freelanders website)

We were so proud to nominate Mr John Bates for the Australian Government Volunteer Award through local member Dr Michael Freelander.

John has been volunteering with Campbelltown Meals on Wheels for over 30 years, starting as a meal delivery driver and now shopping for our clients.  He has become ‘like family’ to his clients and is loved by each of them and each of the staff.

Congratulations again, John.  We are so lucky to have you on our team.
